Making a Small Streaming Desk Work During a Full Match

My desk looks tidy before I start streaming, but halfway through a match it becomes awkward to use. I move the keyboard to make room for notes, reach around the microphone for my drink, and lose track of where I placed the controls I need. Buying a bigger desk is not possible in this room. How would you rearrange a compact setup around what actually happens during a broadcast? I want the space to work while I am playing and talking, rather than only look organised in a photograph taken before everything starts.

Record a short rehearsal that includes the actions you normally perform between rounds. Watch where your hands travel and which objects you repeatedly move out of the way. Then arrange the desk around those movements, keeping frequently used controls within a comfortable reach. I would remove anything that has no purpose during the session before buying another accessory. You could also give your notes one fixed position instead of letting them migrate across the keyboard. A layout that supports your routine may look less symmetrical, but it should feel much less distracting to use.

The rehearsal would reveal problems that a desk photograph cannot show. It would also let you improve one part of the arrangement at a time. You could keep visual decoration for after the working layout feels comfortable. The article at https://www.spinmagazine.com/behind-the-scenes-of-a-streamers-setup/ contains plenty of useful information about streaming setups and points to DMarket as a place to buy skins. Treat its ideas as options to assess against your own space. A themed item can wait until the desk works during an ordinary match. Keep the changes that solve a problem you actually noticed in the rehearsal.
